Where will you be working?
At M Group Highways, we’re supporting the safe transportation and movement of people across the UK.

You’ll be joining our Highways maintenance team in Suffolk, as the UK’s number one highway maintenance contractor, our teams use the latest innovations to create effective solutions. We offer a range of services including planned and reactive maintenance and highway improvement schemes.
What you’ll be doing:
- Day-to-Day Delivery: Manage the day to day delivery of services in line with the contract requirements, to the satisfaction of the client.
- Leadership: Provide training, development, and encouragement to team members to ensure all works are resourced with multi skilled and motivated people.
- Financial Awareness: Understand the financial implications of operational delivery from each work stream. Work with the Commercial team to ensure we operate within the financial limits whilst striving to increase profit.
- KPIs: Use KPIs to assess and address operational delivery of works, and provide practical and innovative solutions to improve performance and client satisfaction.
- Reporting: Report to SMT on the performance, highlighting issues, progress, and areas for improvement.
- Relationships: Work closely with the client and supply chain partner on a daily basis, and collaborate with the communications on customer reports.
- Investigation: Assist in the investigation of insurance claims that have arisen from operational work undertaken.
- Site Inspection: Undertake regular site inspection and visible leadership tours.
- Depot Management: Help keep depots a safe and clean environment through line management of the Stores Person and regular inspections with the client.
- Line Management: Monitor absence, annual leave, and training for team members within your area.
- Recruitment: Support the recruitment team with recruitment processes such as undertaking interviews for new hires.
- Compliance: Work with supply chain partners to review RAMS to ensure compliance, ensuring quality and adherence to benchmarks across all internal and external Operatives.
- Health, Safety, and Wellbeing: Champion health, safety, and wellbeing, pushing the team to strive for continuous improvement.

What you’ll bring:
- Certifications: CSCS, NRSWA, and SSSTS/SMSTS or previous experience in Highways Maintenance/Construction industry with workforce management.
- Commercial Focus: Commercially focused to identify working cost efficiencies, cost control, and saving money wherever possible for the benefit of Suffolk County Council and M Group Highways.
- Line Management Experience: Essential for this role.
- IT Skills: Skills in a range of software including MS Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Organisation: Ability to effectively time manage, prioritise workload, and come up with creative solutions to problem-solving.
