Company Description

Char & Barrel Ltd is an independent hospitality company behind Sumac & Saffron, a Turkish Grill and Persian Kitchen at The Galleria in Hatfield built around the idea of “Two Cultures, One Table.” The team has developed hands-on expertise across concept development, menu planning, kitchen operations, bar service, events, and running a large hospitality venue. Building on this experience, Char & Barrel is expanding into characterful pub projects that combine well-prepared food, a strong drinks offering, and thoughtful entertainment tailored to each local community. The company focuses on venues with their own history and personality, aiming to respect existing character while enhancing the overall guest experience. Each project is individually designed but guided by a consistent commitment to good food, quality drinks, welcoming service, and an atmosphere guests want to return to.

About the Role

Char & Barrel Ltd is looking for an experienced, commercially driven Area Manager to oversee multiple restaurant locations as our business continues to grow.

This is a senior operational role for someone with a proven track record in UK hospitality and multi-site management. You will be responsible for ensuring each location operates efficiently, profitably and consistently while maintaining the service and operational standards expected across Char & Barrel Ltd.

We are looking for a hands-on leader who can develop strong restaurant management teams, analyse performance and take ownership of results. You should be highly organised, commercially aware and able to identify problems, implement solutions and follow improvements through to completion.

As Area Manager, you will oversee the performance of multiple restaurant locations and their management teams. You will act as the link between senior leadership and individual restaurant managers, ensuring company expectations are translated into effective day-to-day operations. Your success will be measured not simply by how restaurants perform when you are present, but by your ability to build strong managers, systems and teams that consistently perform without requiring constant supervision.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
