THE ROLE

To ensure delivery of operational excellence across all GRSBP Sites including safety standards, high performing operations, customer service and team performance. To manage the delivery of all production, transport and operational requirements to achieve the budgeted P&L. The continued development of staff and competency levels across all sites. Preparing reports to the GRSBP Board on all matters as required.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

This is an important role within GRS Group, with primary responsibility to:

  • Health, Safety, Environment & Quality - Manage the operational team to ensure that all employees, visitors, and contractors adhere to site rules at all times through embedding a culture that strives to continually improve and engage. Adhere to all current legislation, company procedures and policies. Undertake and participate in audits and inspections ensuring timely completion of actions.
  • People - Build an engaged and high performing team that can help the business achieve its goals. Develop individuals through coaching, support and assistance to upskill and realise their potential. Formulate and ensure plans for training and continual improvement of staff are implemented.
  • Staffing - Enable Site Managers to plan and manage the effective utilisation of all staff to ensure adequate competent and qualified cover in the event of absence and/or holiday. Recruitment of required staff to alleviate the need to use agency staff within the plants. Manage individual performance and assist in any disciplinary action when required.
  • Production - Manage quality and quantity of employee productivity. Manage production facilities that enable delivery of budgeted volumes with a proactive approach recognising seasonal variations. Manage the maintenance of fixed and mobile equipment and machinery to reduce costs in 3rd party hire due to breakdowns. Prioritise, organise and manage Area Maintenance Fitters time and maintenance schedule.
  • Collaborative Working - Support across site, area and functional boundaries to engage with all teams e.g. Transport, Sales, Finance. Ensure clear communication internally within GRS Group and GRSBP.
  • Financial - Review financial performance, control operational budgets, provide correct information to ensure accounts are true and accurate and spending on site to cut down unnecessary spending within GRSBP. Managing and coaching of site managers to understand the accounts and the output of their actions on site.
  • Best Practice - Identify and implement improvements and share across relevant areas of the GRS Group.
  • Sales, Marketing and Customer Service - Manage any customer support and support all sales and marketing activities that are requested of you from the commercial team. Address any complaints, identify root cause to prevent a recurrence. Engage in any new product ranges/ production requests from the commercial team to assist in developing the business.
  • Strategic Input - Assist in the development of strategic plans for operational activity. Implement, manage operational plans and capital spend including build-up of investment plans.
  • Ad hoc tasks - Participate fully in project work and other assignments as required.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQURIED TO DO THE JOB

  • Enthusiasm and drive for improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Recognised operational Health, Safety & Environmental qualifications e.g. NEBOSH.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Operational management experience.
  • Financial budget management experience.
  • Computer literate.
  • Multi site management experience.
