An exciting opportunity for an experienced and commercially driven Area Sales Manager

Description

Covering the South West region, this role offers the chance to work with a highly respected business that is recognised for delivering technically advanced products and solutions that help improve performance, sustainability and long-term project outcomes.

This is a field-based role with responsibility for developing existing relationships, identifying new business opportunities and influencing key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, you will be responsible for driving specification and product adoption across a defined geographical territory, working closely with consulting engineers, contractors, local authorities, infrastructure clients and distribution partners.

You will identify opportunities at the earliest project stages, providing technical and commercial support to customers while ensuring a consistent pipeline of profitable business.

The successful candidate will combine strong sales capability with the ability to understand and communicate complex technical solutions to a wide range of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities for the Area Sales Manager

  • Develop and execute a territory sales plan to achieve and exceed revenue targets.
  • Build strong relationships with consulting engineers, contractors, developers, local authorities and key asset owners.
  • Generate specifications through engagement with design consultants and engineering professionals.
  • Identify and develop opportunities across sectors including highways, rail, earthworks, industrial developments, commercial construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Provide technical presentations and product demonstrations to customers and stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with internal technical, engineering and customer service teams to deliver exceptional customer support.
  • Manage project pipelines using CRM systems and provide accurate sales forecasting.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and industry developments.
  • Attend industry exhibitions, networking events and customer meetings across the region.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements and support tender opportunities where required.
  • Deliver sustainable growth through both account management and new business development activities.

Profile

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Proven field sales experience within civil engineering, infrastructure solutions, drainage, ground engineering or related sectors.
  • Experience of selling and influencing stakeholders at multiple levels.
  • Strong understanding of project-led sales environments.
  • Ability to engage confidently with engineers, consultants, contractors and procurement teams.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Commercial awareness with a results-focused mindset.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to manage a large geographical territory effectively.
  • Strong planning, organisational and pipeline management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
