About the Role

A long-established market leader supplying materials to the scaffolding, construction, demolition and civils sectors is looking for an ambitious Area Sales Manager to join its growing commercial team.

This is a high-profile, field-based role covering London, the Home Counties, Essex and Kent. You will take ownership of an established territory, developing key customer relationships while driving new business and market share across the region.

The Opportunity

You will be the face of the business in your territory, working closely with contractors, merchants and other industry customers. This is an ideal opportunity for a commercially minded sales professional who enjoys autonomy, thrives on building relationships and has the determination to turn opportunities into long-term business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Grow sales, margin and market share across your designated territory.
  • Manage and develop an existing portfolio of customers.
  • Identify, target and win new business opportunities.
  • Build trusted, long-term relationships with key decision-makers.
  • Conduct regular customer visits, presentations and product demonstrations.
  • Prepare quotations, negotiate commercial terms and convert opportunities into sales.
  • Manage your sales pipeline, activity and forecasts through CRM and ERP systems.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure excellent customer service, efficient order fulfilment and prompt issue resolution.
  • Keep informed of competitor activity, customer trends and local market opportunities.
  • Attend customer events, trade shows and industry meetings where required.
  • Plan your time effectively to deliver consistent, high-quality territory coverage.

About You

You will be a confident, self-motivated and commercially driven field sales professional with a genuine ability to build rapport and win business. You will be comfortable working independently, while collaborating closely with a supportive head-office team.

You will bring:

  • Experience in field sales, territory sales or business development.
  • A proven record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to understand customer requirements and provide effective commercial solutions.
  • Excellent planning, organisation and account-management capability.
  • Confidence using CRM systems and producing sales reports and forecasts.
  • Resilience, initiative and a proactive approach to finding opportunities.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively throughout the territory.

Experience of the scaffolding, construction, demolition, civils or associated materials sectors would be highly beneficial, although candidates with relevant B2B field-sales experience from comparable industries are encouraged to apply.
