Company Description
Telford Copper & Stainless Cylinders Ltd is a British manufacturer of hot water storage and electric heater cylinders based in Telford, Shropshire. The company produces copper and stainless steel vented, unvented, and thermal storage cylinders, serving a broad range of domestic and commercial needs. All production, sub-assembly, and final assembly take place on-site in Telford, supporting a local workforce of around 150 team members. Telford Cylinders plays a key role in the renewable energy sector by providing cylinders compatible with air and ground source heat pumps, solar thermal, solar PV, and biomass systems. Role Description
The Area Sales Manager is a full-time role based in the North East & Scotland area, responsible for driving sales and building strong relationships with trade customers, distributors, installers, and specifiers. Day-to-day activities include:

The role involves:
- Regular customer visits
- Handling enquiries
- Preparing quotations
- Negotiating pricing and terms
- Following up to convert opportunities into sales
The Area Sales Manager will collaborate closely with internal teams, including production, operations, and customer service, to ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and on time. The position also includes:
- Monitoring market trends
- Providing feedback to support product development
- Representing the company at industry events or training sessions as required
Qualifications
- Strong sales and account management skills, including lead generation, relationship building, negotiation, and closing deals.
- Solid knowledge of heating, plumbing, or renewable energy products (such as cylinders, heat pumps, solar systems), or willingness to learn quickly.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to a range of stakeholders.
- Organisational and time management abilities, with experience planning customer visits, managing pipelines, and meeting sales targets.
- Comfortable working remotely and engaging with production and operations teams to align customer requirements with manufacturing capabilities.
- Proficiency with basic IT tools (email, CRM systems, spreadsheets, and presentations) to track activity and report on performance.
- Previous experience in field sales, territory management, or a similar commercial role, ideally within manufacturing or building services.
- Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the assigned area as needed.
- Relevant qualifications in business, sales, engineering, or a related discipline are beneficial but not essential.
