Core Role Summary

The Area Sales Manager (ASM) role is a critical and high-impact position within Baumit UK.

Our ASMs are primarily responsible for delivering monthly revenue targets and driving sustainable sales growth through the distribution network. This field-based role demands a high level of self-management, motivation, and strong commercial acumen.

As an ASM, you will play a pivotal role in building and managing your region, acting as the go-to expert for Baumit's Render and External Wall Insulation (EWI) systems. You will work closely with Applicators, Contractors, Merchants, and Specialist Distributors to maximise sales opportunities and market share.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and results-driven salesperson who thrives in a fast-paced environment and values autonomy.

The ASM team is essential to Baumit UK's long-term success. Through executing clear territory plans, leveraging market insights into actionable strategies, and developing strong commercial relationships with key customers, our ASMs will be at the forefront of strengthening Baumit’s position across the UK market.

This ASM role covers our Region 3 area (Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Cheshire, Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire, Yorkshire, Cumbria, County Durham, Norththumberland and Scotland).

Role and Responsibilities

  • Increase turnover and profitability within the Merchant (MKM/TP/Jewson), Buying Group (IBMG) and Specialist Distributor network, defined in a geographical area.
  • Proactively sell Baumit UK products to applicators and Contractors, while driving back-sales through both new and existing Merchant, Buying Group and Distribution partners.
  • Agree targets and set objectives for each account with your defined area and obtain agreement to the proposed area plan. Amend in the light of changes to regional, national and market strategy.
  • Arrange training for all branch staff as necessary to ensure knowledge of the sales benefits and technical advantages of all Baumit UK products.
  • Evaluate and identify potential leads within the sector by using lead software (Glenigan) and manage accordingly from cradle to grave.
  • Create and employ a journey plan and record your visits via CRM system (Salesforce).
  • Ensure comprehensive records are kept and maintained via CRM system and laptop computer of all current and potential contracts/specifications in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Regularly liaise with relevant key staff, both internally and externally to maximize efficiency.
  • Maintain awareness of competitor products and activities, which may affect Baumit UK’s future policy and provide appropriate feedback via monthly report.
  • Evaluate opportunities for participation in trade events and exhibitions and arrange company involvement, including personal representation, where appropriate.
  • Compile monthly report to line manager.
  • Ensure a high standard of presentation of car and equipment at all times as well as a high standard of personal appearance.
