Role: Area Sales Manager – North

(Requiring extensive travel across the North)

Outline

  • Supporting the company’s existing retail account base in the field by providing excellent customer service support to store staff and managers in our key account stores
  • Account management support to develop key accounts and independent retail business
  • The role requires an energetic, creative, proactive and flexible individual with ability to manage multiple tasks across several different accounts.

Key Responsibilities

Field Based

  • Make appointments with and visit retail stores to merchandise displays and undertake other store-based tasks as required
  • Build strong working relationships with key contacts across a wide variety of positions from shop floor staff to department managers
  • Work with key stakeholders in store to gain additional space and prominent locations for displays
  • Ensure stock accuracy is maintained in store
  • Arrange and deliver training to store staff across all categories
  • Report back findings to support the management of each account
  • Keep and provide daily records and journey planning details
  • Build relationships with owners/decision makers and understand their business and customer base
  • Meet regularly with these customers as per your defined call schedule
  • Strive to achieve set sales targets and goals
  • Timely reporting of issues and concerns
  • Sell in new products and promotions to independent customers
  • Cross-sell across all Robert Welch categories
  • Feedback competition to the Robert Welch management team
  • Maximise space in stores to increase revenue for the business
  • Actively seek out new Robert Welch stockists on territory and provide ongoing prospect list
  • Attend trade shows and customer events as and when required

Account Management Support

  • Support the Sales Manager with admin for UK accounts including new line forms, imagery, sending samples, order queries
  • Develop relationships in accounts with other stakeholders such as online, marketing, training managers and explore initiatives to drive sales and brand exposure within each account
  • Manage customer projects and initiatives engaging with internal and external stakeholders

Internal Communication

  • Manage communication internally to keep informed of timelines for new product development and stock availability
  • Suggest new initiatives to relevant departments and engage with internal stakeholders to drive these forward
  • Maintain a continual dialogue with order processing team to understand customer requirements and any issues that may arise.

Additional Duties

  • You may be requested to carry out other duties from time to time as the business requires.

Competencies and Additional Requirements

  • Ideally minimum 2 years’ B2B experience
  • You will understand why the customer is the focus of everything we do as a business. People do not just buy a Robert Welch product; they buy into us as an entity and we must validate that decision at every touchpoint.
  • Good general communication skills - both with customers and internally
  • Self-motivated and ability to work alone
  • Methodical, analytical thinker with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Excellent attention to detail and an eye for visual display
  • Flexible and willingness to occasionally work long unpredictable hours
  • Confident using Microsoft Office programs
  • Proficient using excel at intermediate level
  • Strong organisational skills, ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects / tasks.

Other Requirements

  • Valid Clean UK Driving Licence
  • Significant travel and overnight stays will be required
