About The Sausage Man
The Sausage Man is one of the UK's leading suppliers of premium sausages, hot dogs and German-inspired food concepts to the foodservice industry.
We supply wholesalers, festivals, holiday parks, stadia, pubs, leisure venues and multi-site operators across the UK and are embarking on an exciting period of growth.
The Role
We are looking for a commercially driven Area Sales Manager with a genuine hunter mentality—someone who enjoys being out in the field, opening doors and winning new business.
This is not a desk-based account management role. You will typically spend three to four days each week visiting prospective and existing customers across your territory (London & South East). You will be confident walking into foodservice businesses, starting conversations and turning cold opportunities into long-term commercial relationships.
Alongside new business development, you will help grow our established customer base. The successful candidate will know how to identify untapped potential, increase customer value and build lasting relationships without losing focus on acquiring new customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively identify, approach and win new independent & regional national account customers.
- Spend three to four days per week in the field, visiting prospects and existing accounts.
- Build a strong pipeline through cold calling, door knocking, referrals, networking and structured territory planning.
- Open doors and secure appointments with key decision-makers.
- Convert new opportunities into active, profitable and sustainable customer relationships.
- Develop existing accounts by identifying opportunities to increase sales, product range and order frequency.
- Build trusted relationships with customers and become a valued commercial partner.
- Plan routes and customer visits effectively to maximise territory coverage.
- Maintain accurate records of visits, opportunities, activity and outcomes.
- Monitor territory performance and take ownership of achieving sales, margin and new-business targets.
- Share market intelligence, competitor activity and customer feedback with the wider business.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure customers receive a consistently high level of service.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
