Area Sales Manager

Join an established international medical equipment manufacturer and take ownership of a largely untapped Midlands and North Wales territory. As a proactive Area Sales Manager you'll be opening doors, building relationships and developing new business across NHS and private hospitals.

This isn't an account management role. There are existing customers to develop, but the real opportunity is to build the territory, create your own pipeline and make the region your own.

Basic Salary: GBP 45,000 - GBP 48,000

Benefits:

  • OTE circa GBP 65,000 - GBP 70,000
  • Uncapped commission of 2 - 7% of order value
  • Quarterly performance bonus: up to GBP 3,000
  • Annual performance bonus: up to GBP 12,000

  • Expenses / Initial GBP 1,000 expenses float
  • Pension Scheme
  • 25 Days Holiday and Bank Holidays, increasing with service

Location:

Home based, covering the West Midlands and North Wales with regular territory travel.

Commutable Locations: Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Solihull, Wrexham, Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent, Shrewsbury, Worcester, Telford, Warwick, Bangor

Job Description:

Reporting to the UK Managing Director, as our Area Sales Manager, you'll take ownership of a territory with significant untapped potential. We have some established customers, but the Midlands hasn't previously had the dedicated coverage it deserves, giving you the opportunity to build our presence from the ground up.

You will be selling a broad portfolio of medical equipment including stretchers, treatment chairs, transfer chairs, wheelchairs and examination couches, you'll develop relationships across NHS and private hospitals within A and E, Renal, Oncology, Day Surgery and Patient Handling.

Key Responsibilities:

As Our Area Sales Manager, You Will

  • Develop new business across the territory, working towards an initial annual sales target of approximately GBP 150,000.
  • Identify new customers, projects and opportunities across NHS and private healthcare.
  • Develop the existing customer base alongside building a strong new business pipeline.
  • Deliver engaging product demonstrations and presentations you will build relationships with Procurement, EBME, Manual Handling, Estates and Facilities, nursing teams and clinical departments.
  • Manage opportunities and negotiate contracts through complex, multi-stakeholder NHS procurement processes with varied sales cycles.

Person Specification:

We're looking for a genuine new business salesperson who gets satisfaction from finding opportunities rather than simply managing an established account base.

Essentially, You Will Have

  • A successful track record of developing new business and creating your own pipeline.
  • A proactive, hunter mentality with the confidence to approach new customers.
  • Experience of consultative sales involving multiple stakeholders and varied sales cycles.
  • The autonomy, organisation and resilience required for a field-based role.
  • A full UK Driving Licence and valid Passport.

Ideally, you'll already have experience selling medical devices or capital equipment into healthcare, particularly within Renal, Day Surgery, Chemotherapy, Oncology, A and E, Manual Handling, Estates and Facilities or NHS Procurement. An existing network of relevant Midlands healthcare contacts would be a distinct advantage.

You'll receive comprehensive product training, including visits to our manufacturing operation in France, while joining a small, friendly UK team where you're trusted to manage and develop your territory independently.
