Area Sales Manager
The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Area Sales Manager to join a true brand leader within the building materials market sector.
Covering an established territory across Central England, (ideally based around Milton Keynes), you'll work closely with national and independent builders' merchants, buying groups, and trade customers. Your focus will be on developing existing customer relationships, increasing sales, and helping customers maximize the performance of a trusted product portfolio.
This is a varied field-based role where you'll regularly visit customers across your territory, deliver branch trade days, improve point-of-sale displays, support promotional campaigns alongside national account colleagues, and provide engaging product training to merchant sales teams. You'll also use a CRM system to manage customer activity, identify opportunities, and plan account development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
