Role Overview – Area Sales Manager
Our client, a growing supplier of CNC machinery and precision manufacturing solutions, is seeking an Area Sales Manager to drive sales growth across the Northwest.
This is a field-based role focused on developing new business opportunities and managing existing customer accounts within the manufacturing and engineering sectors. You will be responsible for promoting a range of CNC machine tools and associated services, building strong customer relationships, identifying production improvement opportunities, and guiding projects from initial enquiry through to order placement.
Key Responsibilities – Area Sales Manager
- Identify and develop new business opportunities for CNC machine tools and related services within your assigned territory.
- Manage and grow existing customer accounts, building long-term relationships with manufacturers, subcontract machinists, and engineering businesses.
- Conduct customer site visits to understand production processes and identify opportunities for machine tool sales and upgrades.
- Promote CNC machining solutions tailored to customer manufacturing requirements.
- Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline of opportunities.
- Generate quotations and proposals in line with customer specifications and business requirements.
- Manage projects through the complete sales cycle from enquiry and machine specification through to order placement.
- Attend supplier and customer sites to support machine demonstrations, project reviews, and installation discussions where required.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, customer activity, quotations, and sales opportunities.
- Monitor performance against sales targets and KPIs.
- Provide regular sales reports and forecasts to senior management.
- Work closely with internal technical, service, applications, and administration teams to ensure successful project delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Represent the business professionally at customer meetings, exhibitions, and industry events.

Key Experience & Qualifications – Area Sales Manager
- Proven experience within an Area Sales Manager, Technical Sales Engineer, Business Development Manager, or Account Manager role.
- Previous experience selling CNC machine tools, machine tool accessories, cutting tools, tooling systems, automation solutions, or capital equipment.
- Strong understanding of CNC machining, milling, turning, machining centres, or precision engineering environments.
- Experience developing new business and managing key customer accounts.
- Ability to discuss technical manufacturing requirements with production managers, engineers, and business owners.
- Experience producing quotations and managing opportunities through a CRM system.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Self-motivated, organised, and target-driven.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Knowledge of metal cutting, machining processes, and manufacturing technologies would be highly advantageous.
