Area Sales Manager

Reporting to the Head of Group Sales, the Area Sales Manager will play a pivotal role in driving sustainable and profitable growth across an assigned territory. This field-based position is responsible for strengthening existing customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and delivering commercial success in line with the Group's strategic objectives.

As a key member of the sales team, you will be responsible for growing market share, developing long-term partnerships, and ensuring customers receive exceptional service and support. Working closely with internal departments, you will deliver value-led solutions that meet customer needs while contributing to the ongoing success of the business.

This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact within a market-leading organisation, with clear ownership of a defined customer portfolio and sales territory.

What You'll Bring

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Proven success in a field-based or customer-facing sales role, with experience managing a territory and delivering consistent sales growth.
  • Experience within the timber, construction, or building products sector, with exposure to builders' merchants highly advantageous.
  • A strong track record of managing existing accounts while successfully identifying and developing new business opportunities.
  • Experience working to sales targets, forecasts, and key performance indicators.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and structured sales methodologies.
  • Excellent relationship-building and account management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and grow an established customer base while identifying and securing new business opportunities across your territory.
  • Build, maintain, and strengthen strategic relationships with key accounts, buying groups, and decision-makers.
  • Manage your territory effectively through structured planning, prioritisation, and proactive account management.
  • Achieve and exceed agreed sales targets, contributing to overall business growth.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, positioning yourself as a trusted commercial partner.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, opportunities, and account activity within the CRM system.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across sales, operations, and customer service to deliver the best outcomes for customers.
  • Support the growth, performance, and reputation of the Group's UK sales operation.
  • Represent the business professionally, consistently demonstrating its values and commitment to customer excellence.
