Orkla House Care

Orkla House Care is 100% owned by Orkla ASA. Orkla House Care is the leading provider of brushes, rollers and other painting tools. Including relevant consumables such as sanding, tape, protection gear and cleaning equipment. The main markets are the Nordic countries, Benelux and the UK. The main proprietary brands are Jordan, Harris, Anza, Spekter, SAM and Hamilton. Sales are mainly through traditional paint shops and trade merchants. The business has around 750 employees and the total business has a turnover of approximately 1,5 billion Norwegian kroner. Most of the products are self-produced and distributed through Bankeryd in Sweden, and Bromsgrove in the UK. Head office is based in Skøyen, Oslo.

Area Sales Manager

As a key member of our sales team, you'll be responsible for developing and growing a portfolio of Field Sales accounts, building strong customer relationships, and uncovering new opportunities that deliver exceptional commercial results.

Your Main Responsibilities

  • Achieve set KPI’s within the sector (to be agreed with the successful candidate) in line with company objectives.
  • Manage a large territory that requires effective and strategic journey plans to ensure bi-monthly visits to all postcode areas (territory includes: East Anglia & London, postcodes include NR, PE, CB, IP, CB, CO, SG, CM, SS, RM, DA, BR, EN, AL, LU, EN, N, IG, E, EC, SE, RM, DA, BR).
  • Achieve NSV turnover targets, conduct range reviews and provide quotations.
  • Use all systems and data available to carefully identify opportunities and sales strategy, and to plan all calls carefully and methodically.
  • Record all meetings onto CRM system.
  • Build strong professional relationships with team members & customers.
  • Seek out and win new business across Retail, Wholesale & Trade.
  • Develop a high-level understanding of the independent sector (Retail, Wholesale & Trade).
  • Support National Decorator Merchants with Trade Shows and visits.
  • Merchandise new stands and maintain existing point of sale to maximise product visibility, enhance brand presence, and drive strong sales performance.
  • Display a willingness to learn and immerse themselves into the DIY category.
  • Take a positive approach to difficult situations without getting flustered.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels (Internally & Externally).
  • Be creative in their thinking and deliver results.
  • Employees are expected to live our company values and operate within our policies and procedures.
  • Employees have a responsibility to maintain health & safety of self and others within the performance of their duties in accordance with the company health & safety policies.
  • Other duties as requested.

What You Will Bring

  • Proven and successful sales experience in a similar role and industry
  • A good knowledge of the DIY market but not essential
  • A keen interest in DIY
  • Excellent IT skills including experience of CRM systems, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Confident and highly skilled communicator both verbal and written who can inspire confidence amongst colleagues.
  • Driven to achieve results with a positive can-do attitude.
  • Strong work ethic, able to work autonomously and be proactive within the role.

Practicalities

  • Travel is within the territory, travel to head office and other meetings as required
  • Travel to all areas within the territory required at least quarterly.
  • Ideal location close to A1/M11
