Position Overview

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a growing provider of industrial automation solutions, for a dynamic, results-driven Area Sales Manager. In this role, you will sell industrial automation components to OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and control panel builders within the North of the UK. You will be responsible for developing new business, managing existing accounts, and consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Territory Management: Manage and grow sales across your assigned region by visiting customers, identifying new business opportunities, and building strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Customer Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for OEMs and panel builders, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions from our automation product portfolio.
  • Sales Growth: Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
  • Technical Expertise: Maintain a strong understanding of automation components such as relays, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, drives, and control gear, so you can confidently advise customers and propose solutions.
  • Account Management: Develop strategic account plans for key customers, monitor satisfaction levels, and ensure repeat business.
  • New Business Development: Identify and engage potential new clients through networking, cold calling, referrals, and trade shows.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate CRM records, provide regular sales forecasts, and report on market trends and competitor activity.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including technical support, product management, and customer service, to ensure customer satisfaction.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
