Job Summary

Wood Innovations is looking to appoint a commercially driven Area Sales Representative to develop and grow sales across the North & North West England. This field-based role will focus on increasing market penetration, strengthening existing customer relationships, and identifying new business opportunities for the Wood Innovations product portfolio across trade and retail networks.

The successful candidate will be responsible for growing Wood Innovations products within their territories, working closely with merchants, distributors, retailers, and other channel partners to drive demand, improve product visibility, and deliver sustainable sales growth. The role combines account management, business development, product training, and commercial planning, with a strong emphasis on relationship building and market development.

Job Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales, turnover, margin, and market share targets across the designated territory.
  • Create, develop, and maintain strong working relationships with merchants, distributors, retailers, stockists, and trade counters.
  • Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities while growing spend and product penetration within existing accounts.
  • Promote the full Wood Innovations product portfolio, including laminate, LVT, and engineered wood flooring, branded ranges, and accessories.
  • Develop account plans and call plans to manage territory coverage effectively and maximize sales opportunities.
  • Maintain regular field activity, spending the majority of the week visiting customers and prospects across the territory.
  • Monitor local market conditions, competitor activity, and customer trends to identify opportunities and respond proactively.
  • Deliver product knowledge sessions, training, and sales support to customers and partner teams where required.
  • Support promotional activity, trade events, exhibitions, and customer engagement initiatives to increase brand visibility.
  • Update and maintain customer records, pipeline activity, and account interactions through the company CRM system.
  • Provide regular territory updates, sales reports, and commercial feedback to the leadership team.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments to ensure excellent service, stock availability, and customer satisfaction.

Key Skills and Experience Required:

  • Proven field sales experience in flooring, interiors, building products, or a related sector.
  • Strong experience in account management and new business development.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with distribution, merchant, retail, and trade customers.
  • Commercially aware, target-driven, and confident managing a large geographical territory.
  • Capable of understanding technical product features and translating these into customer benefits.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage time and priorities independently.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Competent in CRM usage, reporting, and territory planning.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across the territory.
