Role Description
The Area Sales Representative is a full-time, on-site role based in Scotland or Newcastle, focused on driving sales growth and brand visibility across an assigned territory. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Visiting retail and wholesale customers
- Presenting product ranges
- Negotiating orders and promotions
- Ensuring effective merchandising and stock availability

The role involves:
- Acquiring new business
- Building long-term relationships with store managers and buyers
- Providing regular market feedback to the internal team
- Monitoring competitor activity
- Supporting trade marketing initiatives
- Preparing sales reports and forecasts
Collaboration with logistics and customer service teams is required to ensure timely deliveries and high levels of customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Strong sales and negotiation skills, with experience in field or territory-based sales, ideally within FMCG or food distribution.
- Customer relationship management skills, including the ability to build rapport, manage accounts, and provide responsive support to retailers and wholesalers.
- Knowledge of merchandising, in-store activation, and basic trade marketing practices to drive product visibility and turnover.
- Good analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to track performance, manage routes, and prepare clear sales reports.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, and confidence in presenting products and proposals to diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently in the field, manage time efficiently, and adapt to changing market and customer needs.
- Familiarity with World Foods or multicultural food categories is an advantage, along with enthusiasm for food and consumer trends.
- Proficiency in basic IT tools (e.g., CRM systems, spreadsheets, email) and a valid driving license for regular customer visits.
- Prior experience in the UK retail environment and knowledge of major grocery chains is beneficial.
