Coordinate and deliver multi-agency Armed Forces hubs across Cornwall, supporting veterans, serving personnel, and their families. Full-time, 3-year contract, primarily community-based with 2 days per week in Truro and some home working. Salary £30,000. Closing date: 20 May 2026.

About The Role
We are seeking a highly organised, motivated, and proactive Armed Forces Hub and Volunteer Coordinator to support the delivery and development of our countywide services. We are open to considering job share arrangements for this role.
This role will involve coordinating our existing multi-agency Armed Forces hubs across Cornwall and, once operational, working with colleagues at our Veteran Centre in Truro for a minimum of two days a week. The position combines hub coordination, volunteer training and development, partnership working, and casework support, to ensure a joined-up, person-centred approach. The Armed Forces Hub and Volunteer Coordinator will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, work effectively within a team, and show genuine compassion in their approach.
You will play a key role in creating safe, welcoming, and trauma-informed environments where veterans, serving personnel, and their families can access coordinated support, improve wellbeing, and feel connected to their community.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Hub Coordination & Delivery
- Coordinate and deliver our existing multi-agency Armed Forces hubs across Cornwall (Helston, Penzance, Redruth, Truro, Launceston, Penryn, Newquay, and Liskeard).
- Organise logistics, risk assessments, insurance, and ensure all hubs operate safely and effectively.
- Ensure hubs provide a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and non-judgmental environment.
Volunteer Coordination & Development
- Recruit, induct, and support veteran volunteers.
- Manage inductions, onboarding processes, ensuring volunteers feel valued.
- Develop volunteer roles, guidance, and support structures.
- Build a sustainable volunteer network and promote peer-led support.
Casework & Support Delivery
- Deliver coordinated, high-quality one-to-one casework support to individuals with complex needs (e.g., financial hardship, housing, mental health).
- Provide advice, guidance, signposting, and referrals to appropriate services.
- Support a “no wrong door” approach to ensure individuals receive joined-up support.
Community & Partnership Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with statutory and voluntary sector partners, and military bases.
- Engage with local Armed Forces communities to ensure their voices shape delivery.
- Support co-design and feedback mechanisms within our Armed Forces hubs.
- Attend partnership meetings, events, and community activities.
Communications & Promotion
- Support the promotion of the hubs and services through social media and community outreach.
- Schedule and send timely communications to support organisations and previous attendees each month in advance of hubs.
- Support the maintenance of accurate, up-to-date online information and event listings, including regularly updating the online events page.
- Ensure all communications are clear, professional, positive, and checked for accuracy.
- Help increase awareness and engagement across Cornwall by proactively attending other relevant Armed Forces events, such as Armed Forces Breakfast Clubs across Cornwall.

Monitoring, Reporting & Compliance
- Collect and record accurate data on attendance, outcomes, and engagement to support reporting requirements.
- Maintain records and reporting systems to a high standard.

Person Specification
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
Essential
- Experience in project and event coordination, volunteer coordination, or community outreach.
- HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Proven experience in recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers.
- Experience working within Veteran or Armed Forces support services.
- Experience of providing one-to-one support or casework, particularly with individuals facing complex needs and developing action plans or goal setting.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., advice, guidance, coaching, or support work).
- Knowledge and understanding of the Armed Forces community and available support services.
- Experience of partnership or multi-agency working.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring all casework, records, and written communications (e.g., emails, reports, and presentations) are completed to a high standard, including accurate use of our CRM.
- Experience of producing clear, accurate, and professional written records, including case notes, reports, and emails.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and create inclusive, welcoming environments.
- Experience of engaging with a wide range of stakeholders and community groups, and working towards targets, deadlines, or performance reporting requirements.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and data recording systems.
- ECDL qualification or equivalent IT certification, or relevant practical experience in IT.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality, and data protection (GDPR).
- Relevant training in safeguarding, health and safety, and GDPR.
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, locations, and priorities effectively.
- Relevant experience, or project management qualification or certification.
- Proactive and solutions-focused, with the ability to identify issues and take initiative to improve engagement, performance, and outcomes, working collaboratively and contributing to team decision-making.
- Experience of service improvement or continuous improvement initiatives.
- Full clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use.

Additional Information
This role requires a basic DBS check. Occasional weekend work may be required to attend events such as Armed Forces Breakfast clubs across Cornwall.

Armed Forces Community Support & Commitments
- Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs): Employees who are CFAVs are entitled to up to 10 additional days’ paid leave per year to support their volunteering commitments, in addition to their annual leave entitlement (in line with our HR Policy).
- Reserve Forces Support: We are committed to ensuring that reservists are not disadvantaged and are supported in balancing their civilian role with military commitments.
