Job Summary

Headquarters South-West (HQSW) is a Joint Military Command (JMC) comprising a fully integrated staff including regular army, civil service, Full Time Reservists (FTRS), and part-time Reservists. Together, we look after the Army’s interests in the seven counties of the south-west including the Isles of Scilly and Channel Islands. Centred around the Four Pillars of 'UK (United Kingdom) Operations', 'The Firm Base', 'Engagement', and 'Cadets,' the breadth of our responsibilities is wide and varied, from assurance of the Land Force Command to response and command of UK Resilience Operations, all tasks that underpin the success of our Army on operations. Finally, our largest annual output is the delivery of the largest outdoor youth activity in the UK, Ten Tors.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join Headquarters South-West as an Information Communication Systems (ICS) Change Manager, acting as the focal point for ICT change management and MODNET asset governance across the region. Working with a broad range of military and civilian stakeholders to ensure the effective management, control, and compliance of ICT services and equipment.

Main Role Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with MOD customers to ensure that ICS Change requests are justified and accompanied by a One Page Business Case (OPBC). Advising Higher Executive Officer ICS on the validity of the OPBC.
  • Engage with Units and Regional Command (RC) ICS for the delivery and management of all ICS change within the Area of Responsibility (AoR).
  • Subject Matter Expert and Point of Contact for all ICS Change matters within the AoR. Providing Direction and Guidance when required.
  • Responsible for all administration relating to the issue of all equipment, including the documentation to receipt the issue and return of equipment providing an audit trail of equipment.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of current MODNET Hardware, Operating Systems, and technology.
  • Investigate any incompliance or misappropriate use of ICS MODNET services in accordance with MODNET Security Operating Procedures.
  • Conduct ongoing asset management of all MODNET assets. Maintaining accurate records, databases, and asset inventories.
  • Branch lead for disposal of all non-functioning or obsolete MODNET equipment via Defence Equipment Sales Authority Sales and Disposals processes.

Essential Skills Required:

  • Proactive and capable of working independently without guidance from their Line Manager.
  • Adaptable to shifting priorities and demands.
  • Collaborate effectively across the branch and the wider HQ as required.
  • Informed about relevant ICS policies and publications, making sure that both branch and customer processes remain current.
  • Have an organised and practical approach to daily tasks.
  • Methodically manage the Group Mailbox, responding appropriately to each new email while consistently being aware of GDPR regulations.
