Job Summary

This is a fantastic and exciting opportunity for an organised and dynamic person to join a busy and welcoming Army Reserve Squadron within 94 (Berkshire Yeomanry) Signal Squadron, Windsor Army Reserve Centre. The aim and mission of all members of the permanent staff is, always ensure that Reservists are able to train on time, with the right equipment and with all administration completed. This role is crucial to the smooth and efficient operation of the Squadron and is responsible in ensuring that the admin piece is swept up, be that for one reservist who is training, or one hundred.

We are looking for a friendly, well-organised, adaptable Squadron Administration Officer to join our encouraging and welcoming team of dedicated military and civilian personnel. The position will be based at the Windsor Army Reserve Centre but may, on the rare occasion require working from one of the other locations for training and development purposes.

Job Description

The Squadron Administration Officer (AO) will be responsible for administration tasks and recording actions on appropriate IT systems and databases (full training will be given). To enable the smooth running of the wider Regiment, you will provide specialist clerical support and advice to other administrative clerks spread across the Regiment as required.

The post will also undertake critical pre-deployment administrative checks and assurance for those Service Personnel deploying on operations or exercises.

The Main Areas Of Responsibility Will Be:

  • Maintain administrative documentation for all military personnel and civilian staff in the Squadron.
  • Responsible for managing military and civilian database reports.
  • Ensuring that all personnel records are kept accurate and up to date through routine management checks.
  • Prepare service personnel documentation in preparation for annual audit and administration inspections.
  • Ensure that all administrative tasks are completed to support the deployment of personnel on operational deployments or exercises.
  • Conduct Continuous Professional Development training to remain current and competent in post.
  • Stand in for the other Administrative Staff or Clerks during periods of absence. This may require work from alternative locations.
  • Any other reasonable tasks to support the Regiment when directed by the Regimental Admin Officer, the Adjutant and the Regimental Admin Warrant Officer.
  • When the Unit or part of the Unit deploys from barracks the Squadron AO will form part of the Rear Party based in Windsor Army Reserve Centre.

Person Specification

Essential Skills Criteria:

  • Have an ability to work proactively and as part of a team.
  • Communications skills, both written and verbal, and ability to liaise with individuals at all levels.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage own workload and prioritise tasks.
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages is essential.

Desirable Skills:

  • Ideally you will have experience in a similar role or service environment.

Salary

Alongside your salary of £27,866, Ministry of Defence contributes £8,072 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
