Role: Array Cable Systems Engineer – Offshore Wind
Employment: Full-time, permanent
Location: Scotland (Hybrid working available)
Turner Lovell are recruiting on behalf of a well-established global power cable and transmission technology business that is expanding its engineering and EPC capabilities in the UK and Europe.
With a new subsea cable manufacturing facility in Scotland, the company is developing its EPC and Business Development capabilities to strengthen its ability to design, engineer, tender and deliver large-scale cable projects across the UK and Europe.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing engineering organisation and play a key role in the development and delivery of array cable systems for offshore wind projects, working across the full project lifecycle from tendering and system design through to manufacturing, testing, installation and delivery.
About the Role
As an Array Cable Systems Engineer, you will provide specialist engineering support across the full opportunity and project lifecycle, with a particular focus on the design and engineering of offshore cable systems.
You will act as a senior technical focal point for cable system engineering, developing compliant and competitive solutions during tendering and supporting their execution through detailed engineering, manufacturing, qualification, testing and delivery. Working closely with customers, suppliers, manufacturing, quality and project teams, you will lead technical workstreams within your area of responsibility while helping to manage engineering interfaces and technical risks throughout the project.
The role will be based primarily in Glasgow, with occasional business travel required. Hybrid working arrangements will be discussed as part of the interview process.

Key Responsibilities
- Review client requirements, specifications and tender documentation for array cable projects.
- Develop compliant and competitive cable system designs for tender and project execution phases.
- Prepare technical proposals, calculation reports, compliance matrices and design documentation.
- Support customer clarification meetings and technical negotiations.
- Perform and verify cable rating studies and thermal calculations.
- Develop earthing and bonding designs.
- Support cable construction design and accessory selection.
- Manage technical interfaces and engineering risks across cable system projects.
- Support design reviews and technical governance.
- Translate contract requirements into detailed technical specifications.
- Work closely with factory production, quality and procurement teams to support successful project delivery.
- Participate in type testing, qualification testing and factory acceptance testing.
- Support technical investigations and resolution of engineering issues.
- Provide engineering support during installation and commissioning activities where required.
- Act as a technical interface with customers and suppliers.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of engineering capability.
- Contribute to engineering methods, standards and best practices.
- Promote safety-by-design and engineering excellence throughout project delivery.
About You
- Significant experience in high-voltage cable systems engineering, ideally with experience relevant to offshore wind and array cable systems.
- Experience working across both tendering and project execution phases.
- Strong knowledge of cable ratings, thermal design, cable construction and cable accessories.
- Good knowledge of relevant IEC and CIGRÉ standards.
- Experience preparing engineering documentation and technical calculations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Experience with HVDC or HVAC export cable systems would be advantageous.
- Experience using CYMCAP would be advantageous.
- Experience with FEM, power system, CAD or GIS tools would be beneficial.
- Experience working on offshore wind, interconnector or transmission projects would be advantageous.
- Experience within cable manufacturing and factory testing would be beneficial.
