The role is part time for 7 hours per week for 40 weeks per year (school term time working plus 2 weeks).
The responsibilities of an Art Technician are varied, and a wide variety of skills are required. You will:

- Keep Art equipment safe, clean and functional
- Support students and staff in the safe use of equipment and materials
- Support and supervise students in lessons under the guidance of teaching staff
- Work with the Faculty Leader and Deputy Faculty Leader on ordering supplies and stock control

About You
You’re organised, enthusiastic and flexible, with the kind of warm, patient and supportive manner that helps students and colleagues feel at ease. You enjoy solving problems creatively, are happy working on your own initiative, and take pride in keeping a busy art room safe, well stocked and ready for learning. You’ll bring:
- Good numeracy, literacy and ICT skills
- At least 5 GCSEs (A* to C) including English and Maths (or an equivalent Level 2 qualification)
- The confidence to use and demonstrate a range of art equipment and materials safely
- The ability to communicate well, relate easily to staff and students, and love being part of a team
A Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject, or experience of working with young people or in a similar setting, would be a bonus but isn’t essential.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
