Senior Software Engineer – AI Automation & Backend
Location: Remote (UK based candidates only)
Contract: 6 months
Hours: 40 hours/week
Client: Leading global technology company
We’re looking for a highly experienced Software Engineer to join a specialist engineering team working on a large-scale user-generated content platform spanning VR, mobile and cloud streaming.
This is a backend-focused role for someone who enjoys solving complex production problems through automation, AI-driven tooling and self-healing systems rather than traditional feature development.
What you’ll be doing
- Build and maintain automation for a large-scale live application, covering release pipelines, build health, crash detection and incident response.
- Develop AI-assisted developer tooling capable of identifying issues, generating fixes and automating remediation.
- Build systems that can detect broken builds, identify root causes and recommend or execute corrective actions.
- Monitor production quality, performance and reliability metrics and respond to regressions.
- Automate recurring operational and on-call activities, with a strong focus on reducing manual intervention.
- Maintain and improve backend services supporting cloud-rendered experiences across VR and mobile.
- Monitor regular deployments and ensure compatibility across different platforms and user experiences.
- Manage infrastructure and dependency migrations while keeping CI/CD pipelines operational.
- Take ownership of production issues from identification through to resolution.

What we’re looking for
- 8+ years' professional software engineering experience.
- Strong experience building and operating CI/CD, build, release and cloud deployment pipelines at scale.
- Experience operating backend/cloud services in production, including reliability, capacity and latency considerations.
- Proven experience building or operating AI-assisted developer tooling, autonomous agents or code-repair systems.
- Experience developing systems that can automatically detect failures and trace them back to their root cause.
- Strong production monitoring, crash triage and incident-response experience.
- Demonstrable experience using automation to reduce operational or on-call workload.
- Experience managing infrastructure or dependency migrations without disrupting downstream CI/CD.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently in an ambiguous environment.

Nice to have
- Cloud gaming, application streaming or remote rendering experience.
- Experience with asset delivery or CDN platforms at scale.
- Experience monitoring capacity, latency or session orchestration for streamed workloads.
- Live-service / large-scale production application experience.
- Experience with large monorepos and dependency management.
- Experience designing self-healing or auto-remediation systems.
