AI / Machine Learning Engineer

We’re working with a leading global technology organisation looking to add a highly skilled AI / Machine Learning Engineer to its growing technical team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong academic background and deep technical expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to work on challenging, real-world problems within an innovative R&D-focused environment.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for researching, developing and implementing advanced AI and machine learning solutions, working alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists. The role will suit someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems and wants to apply cutting-edge AI/ML techniques within a highly technical, data-driven environment.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Designing, developing and implementing AI and machine learning models and algorithms
- Researching and evaluating new approaches, architectures and emerging AI technologies
- Developing robust ML solutions from experimentation through to implementation
- Working with complex datasets to train, validate and optimise models
- Collaborating with software engineers, researchers and other technical stakeholders
- Improving the performance, scalability and reliability of existing AI/ML solutions
- Contributing to the technical direction of AI and machine learning projects

What We're Looking For
We’re particularly interested in candidates with a strong academic and research background combined with hands-on AI/ML expertise.
Ideally, you will have:
- A PhD or Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or a closely related discipline
- Strong knowledge of modern machine learning and deep learning techniques
- Excellent programming skills, particularly Python
- Experience with common ML/deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
- Strong understanding of model development, training, validation and optimisation
- Experience working with large or complex datasets
- Excellent mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills
- The ability to take research concepts and apply them to practical engineering problems
- Experience within areas such as Generative AI, LLMs, computer vision, reinforcement learning, network intelligence or advanced data analytics would be particularly interesting.
