AI Tech Lead – LegalTech – Remote (UK) – Salary DoE + Equity
How do you get an LLM to reliably work across 10,000 pages of medical and legal documents?
How do you evaluate the quality of its output, reduce hallucinations and give customers confidence that they can actually rely on it?
These are some of the problems you’ll be solving.
I’m working with FinLegal, a LegalTech business that has raised £7.4m and is building AI into its claims management platform.
Their AI products are already being used across areas such as medical document summarisation, document extraction and querying, with a much bigger roadmap ahead around AI-assisted case handling.
They’re now looking for an AI Tech Lead to take technical ownership of this.
This isn’t a role where you’ll be wrapping an API around ChatGPT.
The team has built its own agent architecture and is working with AWS Bedrock, Anthropic models, RAG and large-scale document processing, with a big focus on evaluation, reliability and quality.

You’ll own the AI product end-to-end.
That means being hands-on with the architecture and engineering, deciding how new approaches and models should be evaluated, helping productionise new ideas and leading a small team of AI Engineers.
The role is remote, with monthly leadership meetings in Yorkshire.
You’ll also work directly with customers, Product and the wider leadership team to help shape where the product goes next.
What are we looking for?
- Strong hands-on AI Engineering experience
- Experience building AI systems into production
- Strong knowledge of RAG and agentic architectures
- Experience with evaluation, benchmarking and AI quality
- AWS experience, including Bedrock
- Experience of managing a team

Nice to have experience
- Worked with regulated data/ in regulated environment -.NET/C# would also be helpful, but it isn’t essential.

The interview process is straightforward. An initial conversation with the team, followed by a technical deep dive into what you’ve actually built, the decisions you made and your understanding of AI/ML, then a final conversation with the wider team.
