Senior AI Research Engineer
Remote (UK) | £90,000 - £120,000 + Benefits
Are you equally comfortable building traditional machine learning models and experimenting with the latest LLM technologies? This is an opportunity to join a growing cyber security business investing heavily in AI research and engineering. You'll work on complex challenges spanning threat detection, AI safety, model engineering, and secure AI systems, helping to build products with genuine real-world impact.

The Role
You'll own AI projects from problem definition through to deployment, working across the full machine learning lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:
- Building and optimising machine learning models using techniques such as Random Forest, XGBoost, forecasting, and statistical modelling
- Developing LLM-powered applications, RAG pipelines, and agentic AI workflows
- Conducting applied AI research and evaluating emerging technologies
- Working with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot
- Collaborating with engineers and researchers to deliver production-grade AI solutions
- Driving technical decisions and solving complex problems with a high degree of autonomy
Your Skills & Experience
You'll bring:
- Strong experience across both classical machine learning and modern AI
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, Generative AI, Hugging Face, and model engineering
- Strong Python and machine learning engineering skills
- Experience delivering AI projects from concept through to production
- Practical use of AI coding assistants and agentic development tools
- An MSc or PhD in a relevant discipline
