AI Engineer/ Technical Lead
Central London
Hybrid working with flexibility around office days
£130,000–£160,000 depending on experience
We're working with a fast-growing FinTech using AI and LLMs to transform the financial application process, helping customers move from application to decision significantly faster.
They're looking for an AI-focused Technical Lead to lead a team of around 4 engineers while remaining deeply hands-on with the technology.
This isn't a management role where you'll spend your days in meetings. You'll be designing, building, and shipping AI systems into production, while mentoring the team and shaping the technical direction of the platform.

What you'll be doing
- Design and build production-grade AI and LLM applications
- Take AI solutions from experimentation through to production
- Work across LLMs, RAG, AI agents, and AI-driven workflows
- Make architectural decisions around AI systems, APIs, and data
- Improve reliability, scalability, and performance of AI applications
- Pair with engineers and raise the technical bar across the team
- Work closely with the Head of Engineering to shape the AI roadmap
What they're looking for
- Strong experience as an AI Engineer, ML Engineer, or Technical Lead
- Proven experience taking LLM/GenAI solutions into production
- Strong Python and software engineering fundamentals
- Experience with LLMs, RAG, AI agents, APIs, and cloud platforms
- Someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems and getting into the detail
- Strong communication skills and comfortable challenging technical decisions
- Educated at a Russell Group university, preferably a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, AI/ML, Physics, or another relevant technical discipline
