The Opportunity
Searchability is working with an ambitious AI startup developing a proactive AI assistant designed to transform how businesses manage their everyday work. The company is building intelligent software that connects with existing business applications, understands conversations, identifies commitments, and automates time-consuming workflows.
This isn't another basic chatbot. The focus is on building reliable, intelligent AI systems capable of understanding context, anticipating user needs, and turning complex information into meaningful actions.
We're looking for a Senior Applied AI Engineer / Senior Data Scientist who combines strong machine learning fundamentals with practical software engineering experience and a passion for building real-world AI products.
You'll work in a fast-moving startup environment, helping shape the architecture, reliability, and intelligence of an evolving AI platform.
What You'll Be Doing
- Designing, developing, and deploying AI and machine learning solutions using Python.
- Building and improving LLM-powered applications, intelligent agents, and automated workflows.
- Developing NLP and information extraction capabilities to interpret emails, documents, conversations, and other unstructured data.
- Designing evaluation frameworks to measure AI accuracy, reliability, and performance.
- Identifying model failure modes and improving the quality of AI-generated recommendations.
- Developing scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to support AI applications.
- Exploring human-in-the-loop approaches, ensuring AI systems remain accurate, explainable, and trustworthy.
- Working closely with software engineers and product teams to take ideas from research and experimentation into production.
- Contributing to technical decisions and helping shape the direction of the AI platform.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
