Agentic Forward Deployed Engineer
Contract: Outside IR35, approximately £600 per day
Location: Stratford, London, three days per week on site
Duration: To be confirmed
We are seeking a principal level engineer to establish and implement engineering standards for agentic AI across a major digital transformation programme.
Engineering teams are already exploring AI assisted development. You will work directly with those teams to turn experimentation into secure, maintainable solutions that can be used consistently across the organisation. This is a hands-on role combining technical direction, implementation and stakeholder advice.

Responsibilities
- Define practical engineering standards for agentic AI and AI assisted development.
- Build and configure tooling, integrations and controls alongside engineering teams.
- Establish approaches to security, monitoring, cost tracking and maintenance.
- Address risks such as prompt injection, exposed secrets and data leakage.
- Help teams adopt consistent practices and share what works.
- Advise technical and business stakeholders on implementation decisions and trade-offs.
Essential experience
- Principal, staff or equivalent senior engineering experience.
- Proven delivery of agentic AI solutions in a substantial enterprise environment.
- Strong hands-on engineering skills, with the ability to build solutions as well as set technical direction.
- Experience putting security, governance and operational controls around AI systems.
- Ability to work across engineering teams and communicate clearly with senior stakeholders.
- Experience with Claude, OpenAI models, AWS Bedrock or Gemini is relevant. A background in software engineering, solutions architecture or technical consulting could be a strong fit.
