AI & Data Engineer
Location: London, UK (Hybrid, Remote)
Working Model: Long-term contract
IR35 Status: Outside IR35
The Role
We are working with a leading organisation on a major Balance Sheet Modelling transformation programme and are looking for an experienced AI & Data Engineer to work across the Balance Sheet Modelling, Data and AI Working Groups.
You will be responsible for turning business use cases into scalable, production-ready AI and data solutions. This will include building AI agents, developing RAG capabilities, automating workflows and creating data products that support balance sheet modelling and wider business objectives.
The role is highly hands-on and will suit an engineer who enjoys working across AI, data and automation while taking solutions from initial concept through to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build production-ready AI agents and agentic workflows.
- Develop RAG solutions and AI-powered applications.
- Translate business requirements and use cases into scalable technical solutions.
- Build and maintain data pipelines and reusable data components.
- Develop balance sheet modelling data products and supporting integrations.
- Build workflow automation solutions using modern AI and automation technologies.
- Develop integrations through APIs and enterprise data platforms.
- Work with Power Platform and Copilot Studio to deliver business automation and AI solutions.
- Implement appropriate testing, monitoring and DevOps practices.
- Produce technical documentation and contribute to support and operating models.
- Work collaboratively across the Balance Sheet Modelling, Data and AI Working Groups.
- Continuously improve and evolve AI and data solutions based on business outcomes and user feedback.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial experience in AI Engineering and/or Data Engineering.
- Hands-on experience building AI agents and agentic workflows.
- Strong knowledge of prompt engineering and RAG.
- Strong Python and SQL skills.
- Experience with Azure Databricks and/or Microsoft Fabric.
- Work with Power Platform and Copilot Studio to deliver business automation and AI solutions.
- Experience building data pipelines and working with APIs.
- Experience with workflow automation and AI-powered business solutions.
- Understanding of DevOps, testing and monitoring for production AI/data solutions.
- Strong understanding of data engineering principles and scalable solution design.
- Ability to work with business stakeholders and translate requirements into technical solutions.

Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience within financial services, banking or financial modelling environments.
- Experience with LLM-based applications and enterprise AI platforms.
- Experience implementing AI solutions in production environments.
- Experience with Azure AI services and Microsoft Copilot technologies.
- Experience working within large-scale transformation or AI adoption programmes.
