Duration: 12.5 months

About Us
We are a community of scientists dedicated towards pushing forward the State of the Art in Artificial Intelligence for aerospace. We collaborate with engineers and scientists across Airbus to better understand problems and help solve them. Artificial Intelligence is a booming technology and we aim to harness the benefits across the business, through the entire lifecycle of an aircraft, from the first thoughts to final flight.
What You Will Be Doing
You will be working alongside AI Scientists and Experts to support the team's research projects, driven by the needs of the projects and your own passion and interest in the topics. Expect to be undertaking research into the latest AI techniques, from reading scientific papers on new breakthroughs, to assisting in the design, development, and execution of experiments to determine the best way of achieving our objectives, with our customers' needs at the very core.

Our UK based team-members have particular interests around AI Explainability (particularly in Reinforcement Learning), Foundation Models for Robotics, Knowledge Representation and Reasoning, and Knowledge Graphs. As part of a wider team across Toulouse and Munich, you will also collaborate remotely on these topics, and potentially some more.
You will have the chance to develop across a number of different platforms, utilizing the power of cloud services in a secure and compliant way. Knowledge of Python and modern AI frameworks such as PyTorch as well as building agentic systems will help you quickly get up to speed.
You will also be part of a wider community of interns across the Filton site, where you will have a chance to learn about wider areas of the business, take part in project management challenges, support STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) outreach, and other opportunities.
Requirements
Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore, it is mandatory for candidates to be undergraduates for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

- Studying a relevant subject, such as Artificial Intelligence or Computer Science;
- Those undertaking aligned topics such as Mathematics and Physics would be welcome to apply;
- You should be able to display an interest in, and some experience of, Artificial Intelligence and some of the key algorithms and approaches behind it;
- An innovative mindset combined with a focus on collaborative teamwork and problem-solving.
Security Clearance
You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
