AI Solution Architect for Network Rail
On behalf of Network Rail, we are looking for an AI Solution Architect for a 12-month contract based on Hybrid/ in LONDON/YORK.

Responsibilities
As an AI Solution Architect, your main responsibilities will be:
- Design and guide AI and automation solution architectures across the AI Incubator Accelerator pods, aligning with approved platform standards to deliver coherent, scalable, and maintainable products that support programme objectives.
- Define and drive the strategic direction for AI solution architecture across the programme, establishing enterprise principles, standards, and reusable patterns to ensure coherence, interoperability, and minimise duplication.
- Produce high-level and detailed solution designs for AI and automation use cases, covering data flows, model integration, and system interfaces.
- Review and challenge solution designs from Data Scientists, AI Engineers, and capability partners to align with agreed architectural standards, integration patterns, and security requirements.
- Design AI solution architectures within approved cloud and data platforms, aligning with established enterprise standards and integration approaches.
- Collaborate with Cloud, Platform, and Governance stakeholders to influence enhancements required to support AI workloads and automation use cases.
- Shape and structure ambiguous business problems into viable AI and Machine Learning solution approaches, defining options, trade-offs, and feasibility considerations to guide delivery direction.
- Incorporate scalability, security, and performance considerations into AI solution designs in line with established enterprise standards.
- Evaluate externally developed components and supplier solutions against agreed architectural principles to maintain integration integrity and minimise technical debt.
- Apply systems thinking, or comparable holistic design approaches, when designing AI solutions across interconnected platforms, data flows, and operational environments.

Essential
- Proven experience operating as an AI, Machine Learning, or Solutions Architect within complex, multi-system technology programmes.
- Demonstrated experience designing end-to-end AI solutions, including data flows, model integration, and system interfaces.
- Practical experience building AI or automation solutions within enterprise cloud environments while aligning to established platform standards.
- Experience reviewing and challenging technical designs to maintain architectural coherence across concurrent workstreams.
- Demonstrated ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders within cross-functional delivery teams.
Desirable
- Experience delivering AI solutions within highly regulated or safety-critical environments.
- Experience working with third-party suppliers or capability partners to integrate externally developed components into enterprise architectures.
- Working knowledge of Machine Learning Operations practices, including model deployment and monitoring approaches.
- Familiarity with rail industry systems or large-scale operational infrastructure environments
