AI Solutions Consultant / GenAI Consultant – Energy
Location: Exeter - 2 days per week onsite
Duration: 6-month rolling contract
INSIDE IR35
We’re supporting a leading organisation within the UK energy sector looking for an experienced AI Solutions Consultant to identify and develop practical AI opportunities across its Service Management function.
This isn’t a purely strategic AI role. We need someone who can understand how teams operate today, identify where AI, GenAI and automation could genuinely improve the way they work, and then be hands-on enough to demonstrate how those solutions could be built.
The role will involve:
- Assessing existing Service Management processes, workflows and operational challenges
- Identifying and prioritising opportunities for AI, GenAI and automation
- Translating business problems into practical AI use cases
- Demonstrating how solutions could work through prototypes, PoCs and practical examples
- Taking ideas from initial opportunity through solution design and towards implementation
- Working closely with Service Management, technical teams and senior business stakeholders
- Advising teams on how AI can practically be embedded into existing ways of working

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
