Ashurst Perkins Coie Reach is the firm's dedicated flexible legal resourcing platform which provides the firm and its clients with access to a high quality talent pool of consultant lawyers and paralegals. We understand that our clients need access to highly qualified lawyers, project managers and paralegals, often at short notice and/or for short periods, whether that be to meet internal demands, backfill leave, provide cover during recruitment or to assist with projects. We deliver a seamless, fast and trusted solution to these issues.

Essential Skills And Experience

We are looking for an experienced Planning Lawyer to join our team. You will advise on a broad range of planning matters under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990. This is an excellent opportunity to work with clients, project teams, technical consultants and local planning authorities. There may also be opportunities to work on infrastructure projects and Development Consent Orders (DCOs), for those with an interest in this area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice on all aspects of planning law, with a particular focus on the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 regime.
  • Advise on planning applications, appeals, enforcement, permitted development, listed building and conservation area matters, and planning strategy.
  • Draft, review and negotiate planning agreements and related documents, including section 106 agreements, unilateral undertakings and conditions.
  • Advise on the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), and on related environmental, land and property issues.
  • Liaise with local planning authorities, the Planning Inspectorate, statutory consultees and other stakeholders.
  • Support clients and project teams in managing planning risk and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, policy and guidance.
  • Where required, support infrastructure and DCO work under the Planning Act 2008.

Key Requirements:

  • UK-qualified planning lawyer with 5+ years' PQE.
  • Strong, demonstrable experience of Town and Country Planning Act 1990 matters, including planning applications, appeals and section 106 agreements.
  • Sound knowledge of national and local planning policy, and of related environmental and property law.
  • Experience of DCOs, the Planning Act 2008 or nationally significant infrastructure projects would be an advantage but is not essential.
