Join Proton and Build a Better Internet Where Privacy is the Default

Proton was founded in 2014 by scientists from CERN on a simple truth: privacy is a fundamental human right. Since then, we've built the world's largest encrypted email service (Proton Mail) and expanded into Proton VPN, Proton Drive, Proton Pass, and Proton Calendar — tools used by millions globally to protect their freedom, fight censorship, and keep their data safe. In some situations, Proton has literally helped save lives.

We are profitable, independent (no VC control), and selectively hire from the top ~1% of applicants. Our 700+ team members across 50+ countries come from leading organizations and elite academic backgrounds. We move fast, keep hierarchy light, and prioritize impact over optics. If you want to do meaningful work with exceptionally high-caliber people, this is it. Check our open-source projects here.

The Organic Team

The Organic team owns Proton's primary customer acquisition channel. SEO is not a background function here — it's how we grow, and it's understood at the highest levels of the business. The team drives organic traffic across Proton Mail, VPN, Drive, Pass, and Calendar in markets where privacy awareness and search behavior vary significantly. Low CPA through organic is core to how Proton has scaled without VC dependency.

You'll be building Proton's internal outreach function from scratch. There's no legacy program to inherit and no established playbook to follow. The goal: make outreach a compounding competitive advantage by securing authoritative links in top-tier global publications at scale. If you want a mature, clearly scoped role, this isn't it. If you want to build something that matters and own the results end-to-end, it is.

What You'll Do

  • Build Proton's internal outreach function from the ground up — define the strategy, set the quality bar, and establish the processes that scale link acquisition across all Proton products and core markets.
  • Own backlink acquisition from major global publications — not directories, not low-authority blogs — the kind of placements that move rankings and build brand credibility in competitive markets.
  • Manage the agency roster end-to-end: vet partners, set deliverables, track performance, and cut what isn't working without losing momentum on internal campaigns.
  • Run competitive link gap analysis to identify where Proton should be ranking but isn't, and build the outreach campaigns to close those gaps.
  • Collaborate with PR, Social, Content, and Affiliates to ensure campaigns and assets are designed for link acquisition from the start — not retrofitted after the fact.
  • Own performance reporting: link acquisition volume, domain authority trends, and downstream impact on organic traffic and SERP positions across markets.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Who You Are

  • 6+ years leading outreach or digital PR, agency or client side — with a verifiable track record of securing links from major publications, not just niche directories.
  • Multi-market execution experience: you've run outreach simultaneously across multiple languages and markets and understand that tactics don't translate 1:1 across geographies.
  • Agency management track record: you know how to brief, hold accountable, and replace underperforming partners without losing campaign continuity.
  • Competitive link analysis: you can read a link profile, identify structural gaps, and build a strategy to address them — not just execute campaigns someone else designed.
  • Budget ownership: you've managed outreach spend across multiple markets, made tradeoffs between quality and volume, and kept CPA low without sacrificing link authority.

Nice to Have

  • Established relationships with journalists or editors at major tech, news, or consumer publications.

What We Offer

  • Work that Matters: Millions of people trust Proton with their privacy. We answer only to our users — not advertisers, not investors with conflicting agendas, not governments.

  • Stock Options: From day one, you have a real stake in what we're building. When Proton wins, you win.

  • Food: Lunch and snacks on us every day in the office.
  • Transport: We cover public transport, bike allowances, or parking — whichever works for you.
