About The Role
As an Asphalt Plant Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our asphalt production facility. You will monitor production processes, carry out inspections and maintenance activities, operate mobile plant equipment, and ensure products meet company quality standards.

You will also work closely with our order office, production teams, and site management to ensure customer requirements are met and operations run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, inspect, and maintain the asphalt plant to ensure safe and efficient production.
- Carry out plant start-up and shut-down procedures.
- Maximise production throughput within plant capacity.
- Monitor plant performance and conduct routine inspections.
- Perform basic maintenance and repairs within your level of competence.
- Maintain accurate operational and maintenance records.
- Carry out weighbridge duties, including weighing vehicles in and out and loading asphalt products.
- Communicate production updates and changes with the order office using Microsoft Teams.
- Operate mobile plant equipment, including loading shovels and dumpers, as required.
- Refuel, clean, grease, and maintain plant and machinery.
- Complete daily inspection checks using company systems.
- Report defects, hazards, and equipment issues promptly.
- Submit near miss and safety reports where required.
- Operate all equipment in a safe, environmentally responsible, and energy-efficient manner.
- Support operations at other Heidelberg Materials sites within a reasonable travelling distance when required.

- Safety focused with a strong commitment to following procedures.
- Reliable with excellent timekeeping skills.
- Comfortable working in an operational and outdoor environment.
- A team player with good communication skills.
- Willing to learn new skills and undertake training.
- Computer literate and confident using digital systems.
- Able to work independently and take ownership of tasks.

Previous experience working within manufacturing, construction materials, quarrying, production, engineering, plant operations, logistics, warehousing, or heavy industry would be beneficial but is not essential.
Training and Development
At Heidelberg Materials, we invest in our people. Full training will be provided for:
- Asphalt plant operations.
- Weighbridge operations.
- Mobile plant operation (where required).
- Company systems and compliance procedures.
- Health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.

Qualifications And Experience
- Good general education.
- Basic computer skills essential.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Relevant plant or mobile equipment experience is desirable but not required.
