Aspiring Youth Engagement Worker

Are you a recent graduate? Are you eager to build your experience supporting children with mental health difficulties? Are you passionate about restorative approaches?

A unique Specialist School in Gloucester are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team in October.

About the Role

All the pupils at the school have diagnosed social, emotional and mental health needs, as well as associated challenging behaviours and adverse childhood experiences. The school are therefore looking for a Graduate or experienced worker who is knowledgeable about Psychology or Criminology, passionate about helping young people and interested in a career in Youth Engagement.

This Specialist School have a deep focus on addressing the educational, social and therapeutic needs of each student, focusing on individual happiness and well-being where students can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

The ideal Learning Support Assistant will have excellent interpersonal skills, resilience, empathy and previous experience working with children or vulnerable adults.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Help to identify and overcome any learning barriers that the students face
  • Help build self-esteem, social skills and emotional resilience
  • Implement positive behaviour strategies, with the help of the class teacher and multi-therapy teams
  • Motivate the students to make appropriate choices
