About the Role
At Sulzer Leeds, we don't just manufacture pumps. We engineer some of the world's most advanced pumping solutions for critical applications across energy, water, infrastructure, industrial processing and emerging technologies.
Our Leeds facility is a global centre of excellence for the design, engineering and manufacture of highly specialised pumps and pumping systems. From bespoke, large-scale engineered solutions to complex rotodynamic technologies, our teams tackle some of the most demanding technical challenges in the industry.

Key Duties
- Assemble, build and fit complex centrifugal pump assemblies and associated equipment in line with engineering drawings, specifications and quality standards.
- Carry out mechanical fitting activities including bearing installation, shaft assembly, impeller fitting, seal installation and final pump build.
- Interpret engineering drawings, assembly instructions and technical documentation to ensure accurate assembly of components.
- Use precision measuring equipment to verify dimensions, tolerances and alignment.

What We're Looking For
- Time-served Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Assembly Technician, or equivalent mechanical engineering apprenticeship.
- Experience assembling rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, gearboxes, turbines or similar precision-engineered machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, mechanical assembly equipment and precision measuring instruments.
- Strong understanding of mechanical tolerances, fits, alignments and assembly techniques.
- Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering or heavy industrial environment.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving with excellent attention to detail.
