Assembly Technician
A unique opportunity for an Assembly Technician to join a cutting-edge technology company developing highly innovative hardware products.
This is a hands-on role assembling precision mechanical, optical, and electronic components, supporting both prototype builds and established production work.
The position could suit an experienced Assembly Technician or a practical, technically minded graduate or entry-level technician who enjoys building and assembling products.
Due to the nature of some client projects, you must be willing and eligible to obtain security clearance.
Location
North Uttlesford / Greater Cambridge Area – five days onsite. A driving licence is strongly preferred as the office is not accessible by public transport.
Salary
£25,000–£30,000, rising to £35,000 for a highly experienced technician.
Requirements for Assembly Technician
- Experience assembling mechanical, optical, or electronic components
- Strong practical skills and manual dexterity
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and cleanliness
- Ability to follow engineering drawings and documented workflows
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments
- Experience with soldering, wiring, or cable harness assembly would be beneficial
- Comfortable working to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities for Assembly Technician
- Assemble mechanical, optical, and electronic products and components
- Follow engineering drawings and documented assembly processes
- Support prototype builds where instructions may still be developing
- Carry out soldering, wiring, cable harnessing, and mechanical integration
- Inspect completed work and report defects or non-conformances
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, organization, and cleanliness
- Support labelling, packing, and dispatch when required
