đź”§ Assembly Technician

📍 Adlington, UK | 🕒 Full-time (39 hours per week, Monday–Friday)

About the Role:

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Assembly Technician to join our Manufacturing team in Adlington.

This is a hands-on role responsible for the assembly, testing, and commissioning of our industry-leading tray sealing machinery. Working as part of a dedicated team, you will ensure machines are built to the highest quality standards and delivered on time, while contributing to the continued success of Proseal's globally recognised product portfolio.

What You'll Be Doing

Assembly & Build

  • Carry out the mechanical assembly of sub-assemblies and complete machinery builds
  • Ensure all assembly work meets the highest standards of quality and workmanship
  • Follow production instructions and engineering specifications accurately
  • Escalate build issues or anomalies to the appropriate teams for resolution

Testing & Commissioning

  • Perform Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) and testing of machinery prior to customer shipment
  • Support on-site machine commissioning activities
  • Deliver customer training on equipment operation where required
  • Attend customer sites to support installations, servicing, and breakdown activities

Engineering Support

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and pneumatic circuit diagrams
  • Carry out mechanical surveys, repairs, servicing, and modifications to Proseal equipment
  • Complete general engineering tasks, including marking out, drilling, and tapping
  • Maintain accurate electronic parts lists and build records

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Manufacturing, Engineering, and Service functions

What You'll Bring

Essential

  • Time-served apprenticeship with City & Guilds qualification or modern apprenticeship equivalent
  • Experience in mechanical assembly within an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and pneumatic circuits
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to travel for commissioning and customer support activities when required

Desirable

  • Experience assembling bespoke machinery or special-purpose equipment
  • Experience carrying out site installations and machine commissioning
  • Knowledge of food industry machinery or packaging equipment
  • Customer-facing experience and training delivery
