Standard Job Description
Works within a manufacturing and assembly environment. Manufactures cable, harness looms and electrical boxes to IPC standards. Solders cables and components to circuit boards. Assembles and wires control panels, integrates cables and electrical units, modifies existing hardware to stringent tolerances, quality and reliability requirements. Works to specifications, procedures, schematics and engineering drawings. Inspects produced parts using various inspection and test methods, liaises with engineering and design to improve manufacturing methods and procedures. Mentors and trains others. Uses problem-solving techniques to solve assembly and test problems, holds the ability to prioritise workload in order to meet deliverable commitment timelines. Experience of 6 Sigma and lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Wire Cable Harness Assembler to manufacture and inspect high-reliability cable harnesses and wiring assemblies for military, defence, aerospace, and other mission-critical applications.
The successful candidate will work from detailed engineering drawings, build instructions, and customer specifications, consistently maintaining the highest standards of workmanship and quality.
This role requires a strong understanding of precision assembly techniques, compliance with IPC workmanship standards, and the ability to produce assemblies suitable for demanding operational environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, terminate, and inspect cable harnesses, wiring looms, and electro-mechanical assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
- Perform wire preparation tasks including crimping, soldering, connector assembly, lacing, bundling, and harness dressing to military and customer-defined standards.
- Install heat shrink tubing, backshells, strain reliefs, shielding, and identification markers in line with build documentation.
- Conduct in-process self-inspection and quality verification throughout assembly.
- Carry out electrical testing including continuity, insulation resistance, and functional testing using approved equipment.
- Maintain full traceability and accurately complete all manufacturing and quality records.
- Identify non-conformances and support corrective action activities as required.
- Adhere to safe working practices and comply with all health, safety, and quality standards.

Standards & Compliance
The ideal candidate will have awareness of, or experience working to, the following:
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 – Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies
- J-STD-001 – Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies
- Military and defence manufacturing standards
Required Skills, Qualifications And Experience
- Proven experience in cable harness assembly, wiring looms, or electro-mechanical assembly
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, wiring schedules, and build instructions
- Hands-on experience with crimping, soldering, cable preparation, and connector assembly techniques
- Excellent attention to detail with a strong focus on quality and workmanship
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Desired Skills
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification
- J-STD-001 certification
- Experience within defence, aerospace, naval, or other high-reliability sectors
- Experience working in environments requiring security clearance
