Background – The City Law School is the first in London and University of London to educate students and practitioners at all stages of legal education. The School has made significant advances in both research and education and seeks to build upon that success to become one of the UK’s leading law schools as it takes advantage of the new regulatory landscape for legal education. An opportunity has arisen for two Assessment Officers to join us, one permanently and one on a fixed-term contract.

Responsibilities – The appointed Assessment Officers will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and administration of all assessments for a selection of our programmes. This will include responding to student queries, drafting student communications, maintaining accurate student records, arranging the release of assessment papers and assessment submissions, and organizing exams and filmed assessments.

Person Specification – The successful candidates will be educated to A-Level standard or equivalent and have relevant experience of working in a busy customer-focused environment in Higher Education or a similar setting. They should be confident using IT systems, including MS Office packages, spreadsheets, and databases. Experience of Moodle and student records systems (particularly SITS) is highly desirable. The successful candidates will have well-developed verbal and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. They will also be committed to delivering high-quality services to students and staff.

Additional Information

  • Closing date for applications: 11th October 2026 at 11:59 pm
  • Interviews are scheduled to take place from 2nd November 2026
  • The selection process will involve an interview and assessment. Interviews will last no more than 30 minutes. There will be a short competency test to follow the interview that candidates should allocate an additional 45 minutes for completion (1 hour 15 minutes in total for interview and assessment). Further details will be confirmed at the interview stage.
