We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Assessor in Childcare to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to bring your industry experience into further education and help develop the next generation of Early Years and Childcare professionals.

You will provide high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across full-time and part-time programmes, supporting learners both in college and within the workplace. You will play a key role in helping learners develop their knowledge, skills and occupational competence and achieve their qualifications within agreed timescales.

What you’ll be doing

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging teaching, learning and assessment activities that meet the needs of a diverse range of learners.
  • Assess occupational competence within workplace settings and provide constructive feedback to support learner development.
  • Undertake induction, initial assessment, regular observations and ongoing assessment to ensure learners remain on track.
  • Develop individual assessment and action plans and monitor learner progress against agreed targets.
  • Prepare engaging learning and assessment materials, making effective use of digital and e-learning technologies.
  • Support the recruitment, enrolment and induction of learners.
  • Work closely with employers and placement providers to ensure they understand programme requirements and are actively involved in the assessment process.
  • Contribute to the sourcing and vetting of suitable work placements.
  • Maintain accurate learner records, portfolios and assessment documentation in line with College, awarding body and funding requirements.
  • Support internal quality assurance and verification processes, including working with the Lead Internal Verifier where required.
  • Contribute to course team meetings, standardisation activities, self-assessment and continuous improvement planning.
  • Maintain current occupational knowledge and keep up to date with developments in Childcare, vocational qualifications and relevant education and assessment practice.
  • Contribute to promotional activities such as open days, careers events and exhibitions.
  • Promote a positive culture of safeguarding, equality, inclusion, health and safety and learner wellbeing.

About You

You will be an experienced Childcare professional with a relevant Level 3 qualification or equivalent occupational qualification, together with an appropriate assessor qualification.

You will have recent industry experience within a relevant Childcare/Early Years setting and a good understanding of current occupational standards and industry practice.

We Are Looking For Someone Who Can Demonstrate

  • Experience of assessing learners in a vocational or workplace environment.
  • The ability to deliver engaging teaching and learning to young people and/or adults.
  • Strong assessment, feedback and learner-tracking skills.
  • The ability to differentiate learning and assessment to meet individual learner needs.
  • Experience of developing learning resources, assessment materials and learner action plans.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with learners, colleagues and employers.
  • Confidence using digital and e-learning technologies to support teaching, learning and assessment.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and the wellbeing of learners.
  • The flexibility, adaptability and initiative to respond positively to the changing needs of Further Education.

An appropriate Verifier/IQA qualification would be desirable, although candidates who do not currently hold this qualification may be supported to work towards it.
