About the Role
Anglian Water offers a flexible approach, this role provides you with the possibility to work from home and from Anglian Water offices. Your base location will be Lancaster House, Huntingdon.

Come and work in the Asset Accounting team and take advantage of this unique opportunity, contributing to the efficient delivery of the annual capital investment programme and helping Anglian Water to manage its asset base of c£12bn assets.

Responsibilities
What you’ll be doing:
As an Assistant Asset Accountant, you will be working closely within a supportive team, you will have responsibilities across the construction project lifecycle for monitoring, recording and reporting of operational asset expenditure – from replacement of pumps to laying kms of new water main.
Day-to-day activities include liaising with stakeholders, contributing to monthly reporting and assisting and supporting the team with the management of c£1.5bn annually of capital construction projects, including:
- Advising on correct accounting treatment
- Fixed asset record creation
- Project cost settlement
- Capital allowances assessment
- Processing and analysis using the SAP system and Microsoft applications such as Excel and Outlook

The important work you do contributes to Anglian Water’s statutory accounting, regulatory accounting and capital allowances tax claims, so your attention to detail will be key.
Gaining exposure to lots of different parts of the business, you will get to spend some time out on site, as well as working with a variety of people in the investment planning and delivery teams, and external audit. There may also be potential for personal development in the role with further training and qualifications.

Requirements
What does it take to be successful?

- Keen to learn, with financial or engineering awareness or qualifications (preferably but not essentially educated to degree level)
- A good relationship builder, with the confidence to influence others as and when required
- A self-starter, with the ability to challenge and change working practices to progress the team
- Conscientious, with a strong emphasis on achieving deadlines with the ability and desire for accuracy and attention to detail
- An all-round good communicator and creative thinker
- Logical and able to apply policies/rules to real world situations
- “I.T. literate”, preferably with experience in the use of Microsoft Excel and the enthusiasm to learn to use new systems.
- A full UK driving licence is desirable due to the requirement to travel across office locations and to operational sites. This requires appropriate insurance.
- Knowledge of water industry/utilities operational assets would be beneficial but is not essential.
