Working Pattern: Monday to Friday days

Salary: Up to £66,000 per annum plus award-winning pension scheme, profit-related bonus, life assurance, health and wellbeing support.

The Recipe

At our Bakery based in Enfield, the team is dedicated to delivering unbeatable quality in a safe manner with highly reliable equipment.

As Asset Care Lead you’ll support a team of 6 day-based Engineers. Your role will be approximately 70% hands-on performing both mechanical and electrical planned & reactive maintenance. You’ll collaborate with the Group Engineering Manager and Manufacturing Excellence Project Manager to ensure the team is working towards achieving the Asset Care Strategy.

Key Accountabilities and Measures

As part of the Engineering management team, you’ll be encouraged and supported to foster new ideas and perspectives while driving change at pace. We promote a culture of continuous improvement while working on a changing approach to reliability-centred maintenance in a highly automated manufacturing facility.

You’ll be responsible for completing planned and preventative maintenance, working across a range of equipment from bulk ingredient handling systems, through processing to packaging and site services. You will be familiar with and understand the importance of our SAP-based maintenance system. You’ll work closely with the PPM Coordinator to plan maintenance during shutdowns ensuring relevant parts are available, work is allocated correctly, and have a clear understanding of timescales to complete the required maintenance.

You’ll be experienced with the following:

  • Safety - Accountable for own and team’s adherence to relevant safety standards across all activities (including external contractors)
  • People – Leadership of a team of days-based Engineers with responsibility for the team's training plan, individual development plans, and performance reviews
  • Resource Management – Accountable for allocation, delivery, and quality of all tasks undertaken by the Days shift that supports plant reliability, product quality, and safety in line with Engineering Strategy & company standards.
  • Communication – Accountable for effective handover between days and shift-based Engineering teams
  • Contractor Management – Management of contractor activity
  • Compliance with quality and food safety legislation, company standards, and specifications in order to meet the requirements of professional and legal standards.

Essential Ingredients

  • Experienced in both electrical and mechanical maintenance
  • Some experience of people management
  • Knowledge and experience of maintenance in an FMCG or manufacturing environment would be preferable.
  • H&S/Food Safety systems & legislation knowledge e.g., IOSH – able to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Structured and practical engineering training (e.g., apprenticeship/HNC/degree or equivalent).
  • IT knowledge – able to use widespread functions within relevant software inc. Microsoft Office, and preferably SAP
  • Communication skills – articulate/develops effective, long-term relationships with key people.
  • Coaching & Mentoring skills – takes responsibility for training & coaching of Team Members
  • Analysing and problem-solving skills – anticipates problems before they occur, takes steps to deal with them/correctly & swiftly identifies the underlying problem & appropriate solutions, based on analysis of data
  • Decision-making skills – works collaboratively to make decisions with the input of the wider team
