Asset Care Shift Engineer

Humdinger, Sherburn in Elmet LS25 6PJ

Are you a multi-skilled maintenance engineer with a strong electrical background looking for your next challenge in a fast-growing FMCG manufacturing environment?

We're looking for an electrically biased Asset Care Engineer to join our engineering team and play a key role in maintaining, improving and optimising our chocolate factory in Sherburn in Elmet.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys variety, problem solving and working in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment where no two days are the same.

Position type: Full time, permanent

Pay range: £46,194.00 annually

Shift Pattern: Our engineers work a rotating 3-week shift pattern that provides regular long breaks and extended periods away from work throughout the cycle. The rotation is as follows:

Week 1

  • Sunday to Tuesday Nights: 18:00 - 06:00
  • Saturday Days: 06:00 - 14:00

Week 2

  • Monday & Tuesday Days: 06:00 - 18:00
  • Wednesday & Thursday Nights: 18:00 - 06:00

Week 3

  • Wednesday to Friday Days: 06:00 - 18:00

Closing date: 14/08/2026

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repair activities across the site.
  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical faults to minimise production downtime.
  • Supporting asset reliability, continuous improvement and operational performance initiatives.
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records through the CMMS system and contributing to asset care improvements.
  • Working across our confectionery processing areas, including chocolate button depositing, drop rolling and moulding, belt coating operations, chocolate and sugar panning systems and associated product handling equipment.
  • Supporting a highly diverse packing hall with equipment capable of producing pillow packs, doy pouches, foil wrapped products, netted products, bulk packed products and boxed formats.
  • Ensuring all engineering activities are completed in line with food safety, quality and health & safety standards.
  • Collaborating with production teams to identify root causes of recurring issues and implement long-term solutions.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualification.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic experience.
  • Good mechanical understanding and ability to work on a range of manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing, production or FMCG environment.
  • Experience using a CMMS maintenance management system.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

  • PLC fault-finding experience.
  • Packaging machinery experience.
  • HNC/HND qualification.
  • HACCP & Food Safety training/ qualifications/ awareness.
