About The Role
About the Role
Network Rail plays a vital role in keeping Britain moving, helping passengers and freight operators travel safely and efficiently across the country. We are looking for an Asset Engineer Drainage & Off Track to join our team and support the safe and effective management of drainage and off-track assets across the route.
You will manage the examination, assessment and monitoring of Drainage & Off Track assets to ensure compliance with company standards and support the development of route asset management and investment plans. Working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders, you will help deliver a safe, reliable and sustainable railway for our customers.

What You'll Be Doing
You Will
- Provide engineering input to the specification and management of Drainage & Off Track inspection and maintenance contracts.
- Support the development and implementation of asset management policies, standards and specifications.
- Assess asset condition and monitor compliance with company standards.
- Develop technical specifications for maintenance activities and support maintenance delivery.
- Monitor asset performance trends and contribute to investigations and preventative actions.
- Undertake assurance activities and asset verification.
- Support the development of maintenance, renewal and enhancement plans.
- Contribute to route business planning and investment decisions.
- Maintain asset information and records within company systems.

Band 4C £43,588 - £53,167 Plus an Inner London allowance of £3,270.

Drugs And Alcohol Standard
Depending on the role, candidates that are made a conditional offer, may be required to undergo and pass a drugs and alcohol test. Your offer will be rescinded if you record a positive test. All positive drugs and alcohol test results will be securely held on Sentinel database and a five-year suspension from applying for a safety critical role, a role which requires PTS certification or a Key Safety role on Network Rail Managed Infrastructure will be enforced.
Network Rail adheres to pre-employment Baseline Personal Security Standard (BPSS), this is government standard for pre-employment vetting. BPSS government standard pre-employment vetting requires Network Rail to screen a potential employee's unspent criminal convictions and undertake 3-year career checks. Employment at Network Rail is subject to employees meeting the BPSS government standard pre-employment vetting.

Your Experience And Skills

Essential
- Incorporated Engineer or working towards membership of a relevant professional institution
- HND or equivalent qualification in relevant subject
- Experience of Drainage & Off Track asset management activities
- An understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques
- Knowledge of engineering policies and standards relating to Drainage & Off Track
- Working towards membership of a relevant professional institution
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer
- Member of a relevant professional institution
