About The Role
An exciting opportunity to join Scotland's Drainage and Lineside team. Working closely with Maintenance, Capital Delivery, Works Delivery and Route Asset Management teams, you will help manage and improve Scotland's lineside assets, including vegetation, boundary fencing and lineside access infrastructure.
The role supports the safe, reliable and sustainable operation of the railway through asset inspections, technical assurance, renewals planning and continuous improvement activities. You will play a key role in delivering climate resilience, supporting biodiversity objectives and protecting the railway from risks such as vegetation encroachment, trespass and livestock incursions. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your asset management and engineering expertise while contributing to the future of Scotland's Railway.

Salary: Starting at £43,588 and rising to £53,167 per annum.

Your Experience And Skills
Here are some of the duties your role will include:
- Assist in providing assurance as to whether Drainage and Lineside engineering maintenance regime for specific routes are being followed in accordance with company policies, standards and specifications
- Support the provision of a Drainage and Lineside engineering support service focussed on specified delivery units, but also supporting other delivery units when required
- Support the provision of technical briefings associated with Drainage and Lineside to engineers in specified delivery units in order that the purpose, as well as the content of standards, specification, etc is understood.
- Review and comment on derogation and non-compliance applications to Drainage and Lineside related standards.
- Support the provision of advice and guidance to the delivery unit engineers in the production of business focussed renewals proposals.
- Support the provision of Drainage and Lineside engineering input to the implementation of the maintenance and audit programme.

What you will bring to the role:
- HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject
- Working towards membership of a relevant professional institution
- Experience in [Discipline] engineering
- An understanding of the maintenance of [Discipline] assets
- Knowledge of the relevant technical, safety and performance standards
- Holds relevant professional licences and technical qualifications, or capable of achieving within reasonable timescales
- Holds valid UK driving licence, or eligible and willing to obtain
It is desirable if to have:
- Degree in a relevant subject
- Incorporated or Chartered Engineer
- Understanding and experience of railway infrastructure maintenance
- Experience of undertaking engineering assurance activities, including competence assessment
