This is a unique opportunity to influence asset strategy, resilience, and investment planning as we prepare for PR29 and beyond, working across Strategy, Operations, Capital Delivery, Digital, Data and Regulatory teams.
About the Role
As the technical authority for asset health and risk, you will lead the development of methodologies, standards and governance frameworks that support robust asset management and investment planning. You'll connect asset condition data, deterioration modelling, criticality assessments and risk insights to help drive smarter decision-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities

You'll ideally bring:
- A degree in Engineering, Asset Management or a related discipline.
- Experience in asset management, asset health or risk management within the water sector or another regulated utility environment.
- Expertise in developing asset health, deterioration, criticality or risk assessment methodologies.
- Knowledge of asset information systems, inspection data and work management systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide clear recommendations.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
