Senior Investment Trust Client Advisor
Overview of Role
The Investment Trust business is a market-leading business managing the affairs of 16 London Stock Exchange listed investment trust companies and one New York Stock Exchange listed closed-end fund. J.P.Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM) has been at the forefront of efforts to broaden shareholder ownership of investment trusts, particularly through wealth management and direct channels.
This role focuses on deepening client relationships and expanding shareholder base across a variety of investor groups (existing and prospective) with a geographic emphasis on London and regional clients across the UK. Client interaction will involve in-person meetings as well as virtual webinars.
Core Responsibilities
Client Relationship Expansion & Engagement
- Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing investment trust shareholders, ensuring coordinated activity and internal communication across the UK Funds business.
- Identify and engage new investor groups across institutional, pension fund, wealth management, and other professional channels to diversify the shareholder base.
- Coordinate and participate in the formation and execution of new Investment Trust IPOs.
Shareholder Support & Cross-Selling
- Provide timely updates and informed reporting to shareholders on their investments.
- Actively cross-sell additional investment company portfolios to clients whose current holdings do not fully meet their investment needs.
Board & Operational Support
- Collaborate with investment trust Client Directors to track trust developments, assist with register management, discount management, and identify growth opportunities.
- Present written feedback (including share register movement, activity reports, and investor insights) on select investment companies for quarterly board meetings.
- Present to various Boards of Directors (as directed on an annual or more frequent basis) on an annual or more frequent basis.

Marketing & Strategic Partnerships
- Work closely with marketing and PR teams to create coordinated, targeted campaigns aimed at retail investors.
- Develop relationships with sell-side brokers to expand opportunities with professional investors.
Key Accountabilities
Key Competencies & Experience
- Proven experience in investment fund/investment company sales, with deep expertise in the evolving UK distribution landscape.
- Strong existing network of key investment trust buyer contacts within the UK market.
- A professional qualification (e.g., Investment Management Certificate (IMC) or equivalent).
- Ability to build high-value client relationships with exceptional sympathy and activity planning skills.
- Knowledge of global economies, stock markets, and investment strategies.
- Outstanding client-facing skills, including presentation skills and comfort engaging at all levels (seniority, internal, and external).
- Highly organised self-starter, capable of independent work, prioritisation, and time management.
- Displays teamwork and adaptability under pressure.

Operational Demands
- Regular business travel and willingness to spend significant time outside the office.
